"Different Directions"
God says...."For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope"(Jer.2 9:11).
It is easy at times to see the direction in life that we would like to go. I know I see directions I would like my life to go or "our life"....as in mine and Bill's life. I even find myself hoping that situations and circumstances would continue the same way so that my plans would come to be "The Plan". This particular thought process has weighed heavy on me the last few days and then I thought of this scripture. When I looked it up it was even worded different than I was quoting it in my memory. The Lord says..."I know the Thoughts I think towards you.....Thoughts of peace. Let me stop right there. Thoughts of Peace....wow, God wants us to have peace in our lives. My plans are not always filled with peace. In fact, if my plans for myself were to go the way I think them up in my mind there would be no peace. There would have to be alot of pain to get to my final plan........isn't that interesting. God wants us to have Peace....His plan and His thoughts for us are Peace not evil. Which doesn't necessarily mean something bad or horrible.....to me it could mean our plans and doing things our way can cause confusion and frustration but God's way is peaceful and not full of evil.
God wants our future to be one of Hope. If I wait on God and not go down my own road of "Becka Plans" there is a future full of Hope. Now is that comforting or what? I've learned today that even though my plans might get me where I want to be faster they could eventually get me there with pain and no hope for a great future. God's way and plan for my life and yours is one of Peace, Hope and Security. I choose today to allow God to be in control of my future. It might be similar to "my thoughts" of the future but by giving Him full control I know it will be the best future I could ever hope for.
I choose to take a Different Direction with God at the wheel. How about you?
